| Chief of Staff: Colonel Mike Zimmer
Colonel Mike Zimmer has been involved in reenacting since 1971. He started his reenacting career serving as an artilleryman with the 1st Ohio Battery I Light Artillery in the North South Skirmish Association (NSSA). During his time with the 1st Ohio he learned all the positions of operating an artillery piece. He has served as with the 22nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry, as a private, and working his way up the ranks to become 1st Sergeant. He is a founding member of the 9th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He served two years as the 1st Sergeant and was then commissioned Captain and commander of Company B. Colonel Zimmer has also been an interim Secretary-Treasurer for the Western Brigade.
He has served as Sgt. Major at Gettysburg, a battalion wing commander at Spring Hill, and a battalion and brigade Adjutant. More recently, Mike served as Assistant Adjutant-General and subsequently as Chief of Staff for the First Federal Division.
Major Zimmer lives with his family near Belleville, Illinois.
