Major Trevor Steinbach

Dr. Steinbach has been portraying Civil War medical officers since the early 1990’s. His current personas include Dr. James L.M. Gaskill from the 45th Illinois Vols. (Galena, Ill) and Dr. Thomas Fleming from the 5th Georgia (outside Atlanta, Ga.) In Illinois he also acts as the Chief Brigade Surgeon for the Illinois Confederate Brigade an affiliation of Confederate Civil War units from all over Illinois.He has presented his medical impressions at over 300 events in Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Iowa, on an average 18 weekends a year.
For the last five years Dr. Steinbach's monthly articles on Civil War Medicine have appeared in The Civil War Courier. He is a member of the National Society of Civil War Surgeons, which provides seminars/training for medical re-enactors. For the last two years he has been the featured medical speaker at Re-enactor Fest, a Midwest conference held in the Chicago Metro area. His movie credits include the recently released independent movie "Prairie Rose" in which he portrays a Confederate Surgeon at the prisoner of war Camp Douglas in Chicago in 1864.
Dr Steinbach resides in Batavia, Illinois and is a life member of the Batavia Historical Society.
