Assistant Adjutant-General Position Description

Captain Essex began re-enacting in 1986 with the 14th Indiana Infantry Company E. In 1987 he was a founding member of the 5th Indiana Light Artillery. In 1989 the 5th Indiana became the 5th detachment of Stones 1st Kentucky Battery A of the Mudsills, and in 1996, Captain Essex became Captain of Stones 1st Kentucky Battery. In 1999 Captain Essex became Chief of Artillery for the First Federal Division, and retired in 2007. He returned to the hobby in 2010 with the 5th Indiana Light Artillery and joined the General Staff of the First Federal Division in 2012.
